Brisbane Pride Festival: Saturday 13 June 2009

Brisbane Pride Festival has announced the theme for 2009, ONE COMMUNITY.  Following on from last years the of FREEDOM, ONE COMMUNITY is designed to raise the profile of the many vital community groups in Brisbane and surrounds that work to supporting their community in so many ways.
The 2009 festival will focus on bringing the people who volunteer their time to the forefront and recognising their contributions.  Without these community groups, so many would be lost.  From the youth having no idea where to turn picking up the phone and calling Open Doors, to the parents struggling to come to terms with their daughter coming out to them, contacting PFLAG, from the gay man calling GLWA in a time of crisis to the person isolated by circumstance, tuning to Dykes on Mykes and discovering they are not alone.
