Our Kiwi friends have beaten us to it. With a majority of MPs voting in favour of our neighbour nation’s Definition of Marriage Amendment Bill tonight, many same-sex couples in New Zealand will soon be walking down the aisle.
A packed public gallery at Parliament House in Wellington watched as the country’s lawmakers placed their conscience vote, deciding to support the reform which allows marriage by same-sex couples with a final tally of 77 in favour to 44 against.
